The Jeep brand continues to expand with the 2008 Jeep Patriot. Patriot delivers fun, freedom, utility and Jeep 4x4 capability, as well as a new entry-level price point for the Jeep brand with two available models: Sport and Limited. Safety features, such as standard side-curtain airbags and standard Electronic Stability Program, add to Jeep Patriot's value.
New technology gives Patriot added capability with three available drive configurations: front-wheel drive, Freedom Drive I, and the Freedom Drive II Off-Road Package. Hill Descent Control, a first for Jeep, modulates brake hydraulic pressure.
All Jeep Patriot models include standard brake traction control, driver-controlled three-mode ESP, Brake assist, Electronic Roll Mitigation and Anti-lock Brake System with rough-road detection.
Patriot features a standard 2.4-liter World Engine with dual Variable Valve Timing, coupled with a five-speed manual transaxle and providing 172 horsepower. A 2.0-liter four-cylinder World Engine is available on front-wheel-drive Jeep Patriot Sport models.
Jeep Patriot features a standard five-speed manual transaxle and available second-generation Continuously Variable Transaxle with Auto Stick. Patriot is the first Jeep vehicle to offer a Continuously Variable Transmission-II with integral low-ratio which provides the torque necessary for crawling over moderate rocks and logs and other off-road events.
