The 2014 Flex standard 3.5-liter V6 engine features twin independent variable camshaft timing that controls when the valves open and close to improve overall performance. This advanced V6 is mated to an equally advanced six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, and combine to deliver 287 horsepower and 254 lb.-ft. of torque.
An available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine produces 365 horsepower and 350 lb.-ft. of torque across a wide range 1,500 to 5,250 rpm.
The available PowerFold third-row seat flips and folds the seat from full seven-passenger seating with the seatbacks in their normal upright position to a flat load floor, providing extra space for cargo at the touch of a button.
Active park assist uses ultrasonic sensors to help take the stress out of parallel parking. Simply press a button and the sensors locate a parking space. Once a spot is selected, Flex steers into place with the driver controlling the transmission, gas and brake.
The 2014 Flex offers Intelligent AWD, which continuously monitors vehicle and driver inputs, predicts traction, and automatically delivers the precise amount of engine torque needed to all the wheels -- even before slippage occurs. AWD is an option with the 3.5-liter Ti-VCT V6 engine. It's included on models powered by the available 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6.
Torque Vectoring Control uses the brakes to imitate the effect of a limited-slip differential, constantly balancing the distribution of engine torque between the front wheels during cornering, resulting in improved grip and steering and a reduced chance of understeer.
Curve Control senses when a vehicle is entering a curve too quickly, and can apply fourwheel smart braking to reduce vehicle speed by up to 10 mph in approximately 1 second and help drivers follow their intended path.
