The BMW 3 Series lineup for 2008 consists of four models: 328i, 328xi, 335i, and 335xi in Coupe, Sedan, and Sport Wagon configurations. The 3008 3 Series Convertible models appear only in 328i, 335i trims.
The 325i and 325xi Sedans and 325xi Sports Wagon have been replaced by the rear-wheel drive 328i Sedan and 328i Sports Wagon and the all-wheel drive 328xi Sedan and Sports Wagon. A new version of BMW's 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder, producing 230 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. of torque provides power. Drivers may specify the standard-equipment six-speed manual transmission or an optional six-speed Steptronic automatic transmission. Optional paddle shifters are available for all 3 Series models when equipped with an automatic transmission and the Sport Package. The 328xi Sedan moves from 0-60 mph in 6.9 secconds (manual) and 7.1 secconds (automatic).
A new 16-inch standard wheel appears on the 328i and 328xi Sedans and Sports Wagons. These models are larger in every dimension than their predecessors. Wheelbase is up 1.4 inches, sedan length is 2.2 inches greater (1.9 inches for the Sports Wagons). Width has increased 3.0 inches.
