About 2014 Ford Explorer

For 2014, performance-oriented upgrades on the Ford Explorer include a solid-mounted electric power-assisted steering (EPAS) rack with improved feel, providing more responsiveness to drivers both on-road and offroad and larger brakes for shorter stopping distances and better performance when towing.

Second-row heated seats, auto headlamps and adaptive cruise control are among the convenience features added or now more widely available. Sunset and Dark Side are new exterior color choices for the 2014 model year.

Explorer delivers a thoughtful, flexible interior package that abounds with clever storage solutions and generous head and shoulder room, three rows of flexible seating, and room for all the gear families invariably take along on their adventures.

The 2014 Ford Explorer's standard engine is a 3.5-liter V6 delivering 290 horsepower and 255 lb.-ft. of torque. Mated to Ford's six-speed SelectShift Automatic transmission, this efficient V6 delivers up to a best-in-class EPA-rated 25 mpg on the highway.

Ford Explorer V6 models are available with an intelligent 4WD system that adds terrain management. A driver need only turn the console-mounted knob to the proper setting for snow, sand, mud or normal mode. In addition, the system includes hill descent mode.

The 2014 Explorer offers the advanced 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine -- delivering the power of a normally aspirated V6 without compromise to its four-cylinder fuel economy. This direct-injected, turbocharged and intercooled engine delivers an estimated 237 horsepower and develops 250 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,700 through 4,000 rpm.
